WHAT WE OFFER

What we offer

  • Neuro Hebrides offers members shared experience and understanding of the challenges of living with or caring for someone with a neurological condition in the Western Isles. Particularly the challenges involved in living in remote island communities with a long-term health condition.

  • Opportunities to meet at weekly Cuppa & Catch Up sessions (in person or virtually) with other members who live with or care for someone with a neurological condition in a friendly, non-judgemental environment.

  • sharing experiences with those newly diagnosed and help with signposting especially for those members who do not have local specialist nurse support.

  • Providing activity sessions to promote positive health and wellbeing for Neuro Hebrides' members. For example, mindfulness meditation, guided walks, seated exercise, yoga, cookery demonstrations or alternative therapies.

  • Inviting guest speakers to give members information about their services or different treatments.

  • Neuro Hebrides also campaigns to improve members experience of health care and support by giving members a voice at local and national level. For example, through NHS WI Patient Panel or Neurological Managed Clinical Network and via local MSP Alasdair Allan.

‘Best way to be yourself, no one judges you, very friendly group, you’re made to feel at home!! Lots of laughter, with a cuppa tea or coffee, and a biscuit as well.’

‘Neuro Hebrides is a fantastic place to meet people & I have a great group of friends as a result.’

‘Neuro Heb is a sanctuary for me. It’s the only place I can go to and be me. I’m not seen as somebody who has a disability but a normal functioning member of society! We can sit, chat, moan, get advice but mainly have fun and enjoy the company of the best group of people’.
